Braves Moves: McLouth, Glavine

June 4, 2009

Here are the Braves latest moves…

  • They acquired outfielder Nate McLouth, he has a good arm and plays good defense and makes good plays, he’s also a great hitter.  They will move him to the three spot which I think fits him, he will do well there.  He gets a mixture of good stats and will do great for the Braves.  The Pirates got Charlie Morton, who will be good in the middle of the rotation, Gorkys Hernandez, who does everything and covers ground in center field and Jeff Locke who will be okay in a long relief role.  Hernandez will be a superstar and will be in a great future outfield.  Both teams were improved in this deal.  Edge: Pirates
  • The Braves also released Tom Glavine, who won’t be real good but provides experence.  Glavine should be able to help a playoff team down the stretch, but he won’t be a super star.  He is an okay number five starter these days.  Good Move?: Yes

Breaking News: White Sox and Braves close to a blockbuster deal!

December 2, 2008

The White Sox have traded Javier Vazquez to the Braves for 4 prospects including Jo-Jo Reyes and Brent Lillibridge.  The other two prospects are a toss up even though they are saying another top prospect could go.  Gorkys Hernandez makes sense as a great outfielder with tons of potential.  Vazquez is a big plus in that rotation, and it could be a GREAT rotation if they could acquire Peavy.  The braves are going to be one challenger to the Phillies in 2009, they will have a great team.  My question about this deal is did the Braves give up to many prospects?  Even though they aren’t top prospects in the MLB why give up Reyes or Lillibridge, couldn’t they give up just one or were the Sox demanding all four prospects?  Vazquez is a streaky pitcher who is good 70-75% of the time, he gets a lot of strikeouts and throws nice pitches that fool hitters.  A good deal for both sides the White Sox get great future players and the Braves get an awesome pitcher.  The White Sox can put a starting pitcher on there Winter Meetings list or they can try one of there prospects. Edge: Braves by a hair

UPDATE: Now Ken Rosenthal says Jo-Jo is not in the deal, so we will find out what happens, he also said another young pitcher is in the deal and a possibility as a third prospect is Tyler Flowers who has decent all-around stats.

UPDATE #2:Boone Logan a nice reliever is also going to the Braves, which helps there bullpen serch.

Dye too? Jermaine Dye could be a Red sometime according to MLB Trade Rumors, this deal would give the south siders more good prospects and help the Reds fill in an outfield spot with a great outfielder in 2009, the Reds are rising and by 2010 with good drafts, prospects, and transactions they will be in a pennant race.

Trades: Nats-Marlins, A’s-Rockies, Peavy

November 12, 2008

Here is info on these trades!

  • The Rockies trade OF Matt Holiday to the A’s for RP Huston Street, OF Carlos Gonzalez and SP Greg Smith.  The Rockies are rebuilding and will try to trade Street, so if they can make the best of a Street trade they might come out winners of this trade.  The A’s are getting a team leader that can put this team on the right track while getting fans to come to the ballpark to see a live superstar.  He can also help this team by getting RBI and playing decent offense.  He homer numbers can fall big from going to a top 5 hitters park to the second biggest pitchers park in the major.  Holiday projection 21 HR and 87 RBI.  P.S. A good place for Atkins is the Reds. Edge: Athletics
  • The Marlins lost a starter and left fielder for nothing.  Scott Olsen, who is promising young pitcher was traded to a division rival and so was a power hitting Josh Willingham 25 homer guy with 30-35 homer potential is also gone to the Nats who might be up with the Phils and Metscompeting for first in three years.  In return the Marlins got second baseman Emilio Bonifacio who is a good player and has good speed and bad fielding isstuck behind Dallas McPherson, Dan Uggla, and Jorge Cantu.  They other players are P.J. Dean who is a nice pitcher from the bull-pen, but needs more developing time and they also aquired Jake Smolinski a pretty good second baseman who also needs more time in the minors is also blocked.  The Marlins may trade Uggla but it will take a lot. This Marlins team has went from a 85 to 75 win team.  Edge: Nationals
  • A quick hit, I think the Braves are front runners for Peavy, he is a Cy Young pitcher they need.  They will have to give up some prospects like Gorkys Hernandez and Jo-Jo Reyes though, which will take a little from this team in five years.
