My Take: Chris Sale

April 19, 2012

Chris Sale is a very good left handed pitcher, who in the future could be an ace or a great closer. He’s a better starting and has impressed me. He looks kind of like Randy Johnson on the mound, like FSN Detroit analysts Mario Impemba and Rod Allen said, not that he will be Johnson just that he can be like him in some ways and he gives the same presence and feel. He can hold his own and shut down an offense with his stuff but he needs work and is still a few years down the road from reaching his potential. He will strike you out often too. He is a stud pitcher to say the least and I would be surprised if he didn’t have a good career. You should see many glimpses of that in 2012 and in 2013 he could make a small breakout. The White Sox will have an ace and losing Buehrle will be eased by this guy. Sale and Reed will make a good starter-bullpen combo too. Sale could be one of the best soon and you should keep your eye out for him too because he can do a lot right in a game and shut your team down. His numbers and what he can do are amazing and his ERA should almost always run low. His first two starts of 2012 are what he’s going to be this year minus a few bad starts he will have.

My Take: BJ Upton

August 30, 2011

I think he’s a very good player that’s just going through a rough stretch right now and he should bounce back fine.  Next year I can see him upping his steals and homer totals and his defense has always been there and always will be there.  Upton will get better but if he can’t start to get on more he won;t be more than a six hitter with power, who is still very productive.  I can still ee him developing into a good leadoff man and I think he WILL be a pretty good player.  Him and Jennings will be a great duo in the outfield.  Upton has had really good seasons in the past and I think he can at least do what he did in 07 and 08.  He may start to heat up for the month of September.  Also, he’s money in the playoffs and should be if he makes it again.  It would be a bad move for the Rays to trade him, I think and I don’t see him as falling off, he just had two bad years.  He won’t slump as much and maybe could be an all-star.  His WAR should also improve a lot.

My Take: Alex Avila

August 7, 2009

Avila is going to be a great catcher who plays well all-around and doesn’t have a bad stat to look at.  Avila is one of the best blockers to come up in awhile and he will hit tons of homers and get a lot of RBIs while hitting steadily and giving the Tigers tons of production.  He will cool down a bit but what your seeing is real, he will be a top 10 catcher, he won’t be Victor Martinez or Joe Mauer but he will be a great catcher.  He isn’t a middle of the lineup guy either which means you can slot him low and have a great bottom of the lineup, which I love.  Avila is great and he does a lot well, I think he has a big and great career ahead of him.

My Take: Dusty Ryan

June 21, 2009

Dusty Ryan is a great back-up catcher and will always be a useful part of a team.  Ryan has tons of pop for a catcher and would be slotted sixth in my line-up.  Ryan will always hit for many doubles.  Ryan only problem is his defense, he can call a good game but will never sneak behind hitters to move location and will have tougher time blocking pitches.  The Tigers have a good amount of defensive catchers in their system and he should stay in the Tigers because of his offense.  Him and Alex Avila are the future catching squad for Detroit.  Ryan should have a decent hitting career and put up good offensive numbers each year.

My Take: Brandon Inge

May 28, 2009

Brandon Inge is the best defensive player at third base in the whole MLB.  He’s also the best at “WOW” plays, best arm, and best at grounders.  He can also get to anything from the shortstop position to foul ground and he’s the master at third in foul ground.  He is also very athletic and plays the outfielder well.  He has tons of power and drives in many runs, he is also fast and a smart base runner.  He is also very versatile and can play almost any position good.  Inge will be a decent third baseman and a great player late in the line-up for years to come.  He has a great stance and swing too

My Take: Armando Galarraga

May 1, 2009

Armando Galarraga is the most underrated pitcher in the MLB.  He has nice pitches that fool hitters and will get more strikes and strike outs than you think.  He gets all kinds of outs and doesn’t give up hits or walks.  He is the perfect middle of the rotation guy too.  He will be an all-star someday and should collect a couple of top 10 CY Young votes.  He’s the Tigers best pitcher right now and I love the way he uses his pitches, he’s an amazing pitcher that always keeps his control on the ball.  He has some nice stats too and makes up for us trading Jair Jurrjens

My Take: Curtis Granderson

April 21, 2009

Curtis Granderson is a great player and outfielder for the Detroit Tigers.  Granderson has the most tools on the Tigers and some of the best in the MLB.  He can also play Comerica Park’s center field like no other with his great jumps and routes.  He can hit first or third in the line-up with all of those tools, which is rare for players now a days.  he has nice stats too.  His Power/Speed combo is amazing.  Granderson is a nice unique stance and hustles on every play, he makes many amazing catches.  Another great thing about him is he can hit it anywhere on the field and has barely any weaknesses.  Granderson is an elite player that is hard to find and he will hit almost any kind of pitch.

My Take: Josh Johnson

April 20, 2009

Josh Johnson is a righty starter for the Marlins and in my opinion he has as good of a chance as anybody to win the Cy Young this year, here’s why.  He rarely walks people and strikes out a lot and keeps a great ERA and WHIP.  He also goes after hitters on the outside corner, which is out of a lot of their hot zones, and gets them out.  He has a nice fastball and nasty slider along worth a change-up that he uses.  He is Johan Santana like as his team rarely loses with him on the mound.  If he doesn’t allow many hits he will become an elite pitcher in a couple of years.  He would be an ace on a lot of different teams.
