Does Marlins staff get solidified with Robertson

March 31, 2010

I don’t think it will help much.  I think he might be better staying in the bullpen for a while, but it will make him a bit better.  Robertson’s ERA will be high the whole year.  He shouldn’t improve much but the games he pitches should get a tiny bit better.  Robertson should be no better than Sean West.  Robertson could also get worse and if he does it will gradually get worse every start.  He isn’t going to help this rotation at all.  He will be very inconsistent and unreliable some games he could give up five runs in the first inning.  I wouldn’t trust him and I don’t see him doing much in the near future and there better off with him in the bullpen.  If he stays there he should keep and ERA around 4.00 and he could do everything a least more constant but not enough to do very well.  Robertson will not do very well his first few starts.

BETS ROTATION FOR MARLINS:
R Josh Johnson-FORECAST- 18 W 2.97 ERA 191 K 1.14 WHIP
R Ricky Nolasco- FORECAST- 16 W 3.35 ERA 218 K 1.21 WHIP
R Chris Volstad-FORECAST- 11 W 4.34 ERA 153 K 1.41 WHIP
R Anibal Snachez-FORECAST- 11 W 4.31 ERA 167 K 1.43 WHIP
L Sean West-FORECAST- 9 W 4.76 ERA 142 K 1.53 WHIP

Robertson probably won’t work out well for the Marlins.

What to expect of Derrek Lee

March 30, 2010

I think he can play decent this year, nothing over 30 homers but he should hit well all-around.  His defense should stay pretty good though.  He’s not a guy who will be really good all year or carry a team though and he will decline soon.  Lee should hit for a good average and get on base a lot and be a big force in the middle of the order.  He should be better in the first half and slowly get worse in the second half.  Lee’s range is a .300 average and 25 homers and 85 RBIs and he should even do a little worse than that.  He shouldn’t decline rapidly though.  He might have some flares in the year while he does really good or bad for a week or two.  His strikeouts might go up a bit and he might not get as many hits, but without Lee the CUbs won’t have a chance in this division because he might be able to hit .290 this year, but even if he doesn’t he will have a quality year.

Can Indians be good?

March 29, 2010

They will ned quite a few things to happen.  Justin Masterson will have to breakout and be unhittable at times, he might breakout a bit this year but not be unhittable he should do pretty good though and do his job exceptionally well.  They will need Carlos Santana to come up too and if he does he will be a RBI machine because Lou Marson will not hit well  and they need some production from him.  Peralta will also have to gain his power back which should happen easily.  They need a little more from Luis Valbuena too, if he can’t hit they should sit him.  Grady Sizemore and Shin-Soo Choo will do very well and these guys will lead them, Michael Brantley should also do the best out of any rookie.  David Huff and Carlos Carrasco should improve drastically and that will help them.  They need vets Westbrook and Carmona to step up and there not that good, I don’t see them helping much at all.  They relievers should also get better, Rafael Perez, will be a good lefty specialist this year and they won’t need to take the closer job out of Chris Perez hands.  The offense should score decent but the pitching should give up a lot of runs, they shouldn’t come close to winning this division because they will develop and have struggles this year but they should win a decent amount of games and do pretty good at times, but no chance to be really good.

Tigers Starting Pitching Staff

March 28, 2010
  1. Justin Verlander- FORECAST 19 W, 213 K, 3.02 ERA, 1.09 WHIP-  Verlander is going to win a Cy Young soon.  He should be the big game pitcher and everything for the Tigers this year and he won’t let them down.  He’s consistent and is going to get tons of hitters out, he should give up almost no hits some games and should improve a lot on everything, his stuff might even get nastier.
  2. Rick Porcello-FORECAST- 15 W, 174 K, 3.82 ERA, 1.27 WHIP- He will develop big and also pitch some big games, this year could be his first all-star game.  Porcello should continue to get better control and command and it could get a lot better.  This is his breakout season.  He will still give up walks and have his fair share of bad games but he should continue his dominance and should do better in the first half this year.
  3. Max Scherzer-FORECAST- 14 W 189 K, 4.01 ERA, 1.31 WHIP-  He will need some more time to mature but he should do great this season and always pitch decent.  He won’t cost the Tigers many games and his switch to the AL will be fine.  His stuff should be amazing at times but be flat at others, but he will be the guy to pitch decent even without his best stuff.  His percentages may be high at times but he should do a lot for this team.
  4. Jeremy Bonderman- FORECAST-11 W 134 K, 4.35 ERA 1.37 WHIP- He will have a lot of rough times but he will find his groove and will pitch normal, he should get tons of wins and not do terrible, he will walk some guys and be more inconsistent but he should pitch a little better than normal Bonderman at his best.  He might not do that well in inter division games for a while and he will need some time to get back into getting hitters out, but it won’t cost the Tigers.
  5. Dontrelle Willis- FORECAST-8 W 106 K 4.71 ERA 1.69 WHIP- He will struggle with command all year but he will get control and pitch some good games.  I wouldn’t put him in any big games at all though and he could cost the Tigers a bit.  He will either strikeout tons of people or walk tons of people but his stats could stay okay and he should keep runs okay, he won’t let run after run after run score.  Willis could have a good year he just needs to lay low on his stuff but be crafty enough which he could do.

If the Tigers need Galarraga he should do good most of the time.

Five Spots: Roberston and Willis, Hughes and Chamerlin

March 26, 2010
  • The Yankees made the right move, Joba is good and can get the strikeouts and other things but he would only be average and have lot’s of bad starts.  Hughes still has tons of upside and a lot of that will be used this year, Hughes will not give up many runs and his ERA should stay low, he should have no trouble switching over just like Joba, ho should be a great a throwing high speeds and getting hitters out but look for his walk rate to stay high.  Hughes could be one of the Yanks better pitchers this year
  • The Tigers need to choose Willis over Robertson.  Willis is still wild but I see him getting better, he won’t be a Cy Young guy but he should keep getting outs but his WHIP will take a while.  Robertson will just give up tons of hits and runs and there’s nothing special about him, nothing to make a hitter get fooled, he would get beat in a nd out and all of his percentage stats would be high.  Willis will keep getting better throughout the year too, Robertson will only get worse and he won’t get better no matter what he does.  Robertson will only give you a few quality innings.  Willis should do a lot more than what’s expected this year.

Would these trade work?

March 24, 2010

Augie Ojeda to Red Sox: Yes the Red Sox need his defense and versatility and I think at times he could break out and do a lot of great things in this line-up.  His homers and RBIs would go way up and he’s a decent baserunner.  He does a bit of everything and will help the Sox a lot, he’s one of the pieces of the puzzle to win a championship for the Sox.  I think a medium tier prospect like Felix Doubront would do the trick.  Ojeda should have one of his best seasons in Boston.
Luke Gregerson to Phillies: Yes, the Phillies need one more reliever that’s good and he would replace Lidge just fine.  In Philly he might find a bit of trouble but he should continue to pitch well and do what he usually does.  I wouldn’t trust him right away in Philly but his numbers will go down.  He should do fine because his talent will overtake the park and the Marlins offense.  A guy like Antonino Bastardo should get him in Philly.
Heath Bell to Twins:  This would be great for this year as Bell should thrive in this division.  If they keep him after Nathan comes back he will make a fine setup man.  I don’t see him struggling either and he should get all of his saves without many baserunners, he should be close to unhittable for them this year and all his stats will get better.  I think Tyler Robertson and Rene Tosoni would get him, but they might need more prospects to get him.
Brandon McCarthy to Nationals:  McCarthy might not benefit right away but I think he will get better as the team does, he has so much talent and can make hitters look bad if he can still pitch well he just needs to develop and here is the best spot, he could be an all-star and he might even make a little bit of an immediate impact.  They could probably get him for JP Ramirez.

The Nats bullpen

March 22, 2010

It could actually be pretty good.  It could do everything a good team needs and more, they just need to develop.

STROEN: They need him right away and he will be ready right away, he could tear up the league at first and even make a great closer.  He should keep his ERA and WHIP low and should get better while doing good on the job.  He will get the outs too, he won’t struggle much.
CAPPS:  Should get better and has the tools to be a good closer, he’s not the sharpest one but he will get saves, not always pretty and he’s not overpowering but he will do it.
CLIPPARD: This is going to be his breakout year, he should do everything to his best and I like his unorthodox delivery it bring something good to this staff.  Watch for him to save and hold some important games.
BRUNEY:  He needs to breakout and he could, if he does he will be the ideal set-up man and always get the job done, he is going to be steady and he can eat some innings and do really well.  He can do a  lot of things he is key for this bullpen to do good.
S.BURNETT: He will have some really good games but he will also give u a lot of runs and should be the weakest link at times, but when he’s on he will be on a strikeout tons of guys.  He could pitch two good innings some games and is a key part of late inning when he’s on, because he will stop them, without any trouble, most of the time.
BERGMANN:  He will improve a little bit but he should constantly be bombed and have a higher ERA, but he will have games where he’s on and he should do exceptional.  I wouldn’t want to rely on him, but he’s there best option and his good games are worth it.

OVERALL:  Capps, Bruney, Clippard, and Storen should have outstanding years and make this bullpen good, Burnett is the power pitcher they need.  When it all combines it make a nice bullpen.  They will get a little bit of everything and not blow many games.  At times I would avoid Bergmann because he will blow games but this bullpen should come in day in and day out and do their job.
HOW GOOD?: Good, for most of the year

Alcides: Will he dissapoint?

March 21, 2010

I think the one and only thing that will developed when he comes up is his fielding and he will use his glove a lot and really good this year, it might be on of his better defensive season within the next few years.  His base running should be pretty good and he could go on stolen base tears.  His hitting should be poor this year.  He has a great swing though and everything should follow through.  He should get a lot fo hits but not for his at-bats.  He might not get on base as much.  He won’t completely disappoint  and should deliver big a few times.  He should improve a lot in his second year and hit really good.  He should hit at the bottom of the order too, he should do better that way.  He won’t have success  the beginning of the year though.  Escobar will be an exciting player and be really big in tons of ways for the Brewers for years to come, but this year he shouldn’t be great, he should be about a .265 hitter.  He really just needs to field good and he will help this club a lot, he won’t do anything to hurt them and should be good in rallies.  Alcides should hit fastballs really well and get better this year a tiny bit with breaking pitches.  His overall performance should be really well and he should do okay for a rookie.

Could Weeks break out?

March 20, 2010

I think he will and with a lot of home runs.  He will have sped too and his hitting will improve a lot and help this team, I cans ee him around .300 the whole year and not wearing off.  Weeks should be able to hit a lot of pitchers too.All he needs to do is get on base to be an all-star and he will do that a lot this year.  He won’t be a liability either.  He will have some struggles at times and not hit, he won’t shut down though, those things should only last a week or so though.  I think he could hit 30 homers, but it’s a long shot.  He should steal bases a decent amount but he won’t need to because this line-up should be special and that could be one thing that goes down.  He needs to stay at the bottom of the order and he won’t be a number two hitter again.  His tools are going to be very good starting this year and he will do a few things bad but he should see a lot of big improvements.
