Most Valuable Left Fielders for 2011

February 10, 2011

Here we go…

10. Jose Tabata- He’s going, and his greatness is coming, I see him having a 20-20 season and growing a ton this year and between him and McCutchen the Pirates will have to really good hitters.  HOW VALUABLE?: 8.8, could go up a bit though
9. Raul Ibanez- He could get off to a hot start and in that ballpark he should be a run producer for at least another year.  Ibanez could also hit 25 homers and just basically be a decent run producer throughout the whole year, I like him for that and he will make a difference for the Phils.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.0
8. Brett Gardner- He will be a tablesetter and at times make the Yankees go.  he will hit great all next year and I could even see him sneaking on to the all-star team.  His speed and decent defense helps him out too.  A great player.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.2
7. Jason Bay- Last year was a complete fluke, watch he rebound a ton next year, he may not fully recover and first and hit a few less homers but everything else will be good and it’s all up from there.  He will live up to his contract.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.3
6. Delmon Young- He is that good of a player and will have a similar season.  His RBIs could even go up and he could be one of the Twins better hitters.  Young is the real deal he will show it in 2011 and many other seasons.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.4
5. Martin Prado- The guy can flat-out hit, all-around.  He will pick up some more power and won’t be a slack in the outfield.  Watch out he is going to have a really good year and he’s a tough out.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.5
4. Matt Holliday- Is an awesome player and will have awesome numbers.  Should have another all-star season and his best with the Cards and he should protect Pujols.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.7
3. Ryan Braun- He’s going to gain back some power and have another great season for the Brew Crew, period.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.9
2. Josh Hamilton- Should be an MVP candidate and drive the Rangers again, being a five tool threat I see hardly any weaknesses in his hitting and he will get a ton of assists and RBIs.  HOW VALUABLE?: 9.9
1. Carl Crawford- His numbers will get a lot better in Boston and he could be a 30-60 gu.  he’s just amazing and he should hold this spot.  HOW VALUABLE?: 10.0

What the Red Sox Batting Order Should Look Like

January 30, 2011

I think it should be…

  1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury
  2. 2B Dustin Pedroia
  3. LF Carl Crawford
  4. 1B Adrian Gonzalez
  5. 3B Kevin Youkilis
  6. DH David Ortiz
  7. RF JD Drew
  8. SS Marco Scutaro
  9. C Jarrod Saltalamcchia
  • I think if the Red Sox do the line-up another way it won’t kill them they will just get a bit less production
  • I like Ellsbury leadoff because he won’t be as big a base stealer ninth and with Salty ahead of him he won’t have a great season
  • I don’t think Pedroia fits leadoff, he’s the perfect number two hitter
  • Crawford hits best in the three spot, so why move him?
  • Gonzalez will hit way more homers in Fenway and is more of a clean-up hitter now and he will do slightly better in that spot than Kevin Youkilis
  • Ortiz is perfect in the six whole and I like Drew seventh and Scutaro eighth, that I wouldn’t mess around with
  • Salty will do good if you hit him ninth and with his likely bad batting average he will get the least plate appearances.
  • All these guys should have a good season where they hit in this line-up but if it does get switched their numbers won’t alter a ton
  • If the line-up does switch Ellsbury will be the worst off of any player.

Tigers Rumors and Ideas- Day 2

December 7, 2010
  • The Tigers have talked to the Nats about Willingham.  he’s just what they need if they don’t get Crawford and he will do everything really good in Detroit.  He will hit a lot of homers and will be very productive and he will have a big 2011 if they get him, everything is good with him.  NEED HIM: 7
  • The Tigers are still interested in Crawford and though it’s unlikely, his signing would pretty much give the Tigers a big advantage and everything would be at it’s best for Crawford because he would perform big as a Tiger.
  • The Tigers are talking to the Cubs about Tom Gorzelanny.  Getting him as a five guy is fine.  He’s getting better and in Comerica it could boost him.  With the Tigers he will get better and do awesome until 2012 when his contract is up.  He should fully regain control soon and when he does he could be dominant at times.  His walks should decrease and most of his numbers increase except ERA and WHIp which will slowly go down.  everything there for him to be good and the Tigers would be better with him.
  • I would get Gorzelanny and Willingham tomorrow, if possible.  As far as bullpen help I like JC Romero is looking pretty good.

Free Agents who might sign: Beltre, Crawford

December 7, 2010
  • Adrian Beltre might be headed to Texas or could go to another team.  Beltre is going to be very good if he goes to Texas and will be very valuable.  Beltre stats might drop off but his numbers will be very good still and his defense will make every team a lot better.  Beltre will have another few good years wherever he goes and if it is the Rangers he will do even better.  He will hit more homers most likely and have some very good years.  I think signing him more than four years is very risky because he will drop off at some pont.  If the Rangers get him they will shop Michael Young who would also be a big addition to almost any club.
  • Carl Crawford is drawing more and more interest from the Angels, Red Sox and Tigers.  If he signs in Boston he should have possibly his best years there.  With the Angels he fits more and might do even better and with Detroit he would do a pretty good job.  His skills could make a team a contender immediatley .  Crawford’s speed and power will be on display next year and he’s just an awesome player to have.  I would sign him regardless of the price.

What the Red Sox should do now…

November 24, 2010
  1. Keep Salty behind the plate as a starter and either re-sign Varitek or sign Treanor to back him up.
  2. Get Jayson Werth or Carl Crawford and a decent third baseman
  3. Stick with current starters
  4. Give Nava and Kalish a lot of playing time as a fourth outfielder or DH
  5. Re-sign Bill Hall
  6. Get another bullpen arm
  7. Don’t trade Jacoby Ellsbury even for Adrian Gonzalez
