Mariners decline Jackson for Morrow, Kelley

November 30, 2009

The Mariners declined a potentially great deal, but it could have been bad too.  Brandon Morrow will either breakout or he won’t, I think there is a better chance he will and be great with the way he pitches and stats.  Shawn Kelley  will not be a great reliever he will get the job done and plug a few holes for a while.  Jackson is not a half a season pitcher.  He might go into a big slump but for the most part he will do what he did last year, put up a good start 5 times out of 6.  Morrow and Kelley would be good for the Tigers, Morrow would be great for them pretty soon and he will for the Mariners too.  Jackson would fit in at Seattle and d okay but his pitching slumps can be concerning but that is fixable.  The Tigers should go after more.

Pirates crowd at third could turn out great

November 29, 2009

Pedro Alvarez, Neil Walker, and Andy LaRoche all are third baseman with great futures on the Pirates.  Neil Walker won’t start though, he should be a great bench player who does everything and guns down runners easily going to first with his great arm, Walker will do a lot of things that will help the Pirates and should do them well for tons of years.  Pedro Alvarez will be everything he was supposed to be.  He is still developing his skills and could put up great numbers.  He will be the centerpiece of the team and do everything great.  His power will be best.  I still think LaRoche can almost live up to his potential.  He will be great at hitting and make a big impact on this team, but he should move to first.  it won’t hurt him offensively and his defense shouldn’t be much worse. He still has tons of growing room, if he finds his groove he will do great.  This will make the team a lot better and these three could make them into a winner.
MCCUTCHEN AND ALVAREZ:  Pedro Alvarez won’t be as good as Andrew McCutchen at first be he should get better than him at one point and then they should be about the same.  Alvarez would be better overall.  They should both make big contributions next year and keep making them.  Alvarez should have more value at his position.

Uggla Pre-trade Analysis

November 28, 2009

Dan Uggla is going to be a very great player for years to come.  I think a contender needing a bit of offense would fit him.  Uggla might not do great at first but should start to fit in.  Uggla won’t be good at defense where ever he plays but his offense could boast a team to tons of wins.  He makes an impact on the batting order too.  The team that gets him will see his numbers improve and his production go high within two years.  I can see why Florida would give him up though.  He doesn’t get on base enough and they want a pure hitter in Chris Cohglan, which I would do too.  Uggla is good but Cohglan has more upside and could be the center piece of the franchise and moving him back to second and getting rid of Uggla would help the team overall.  Uggla won’t do as well in Florida, he will always hit 30 homers or so but if he does stick around look for a big decline in his numbers.
GIANTS:  If they get him there infield will be great.  He is the price this team needs in the offseason.  He would learn how to hit okay within this division too.

Barry Larkin was an impact player and deserved it.  Larkin could have done great at shortstop at anytime, he would be a great asset to any team any time.

Edgar Martinez is the best DH in history and he had a big impact.

Alan Trammell is one of the best shortstops ever he played great and had great stats.  Trammell and Whitaker belong in the HOF.  They both were great and helped the Tigers a lot.

White Sox sign Andruw Jones

November 25, 2009

I think he has no where to up with this move.  Jones is way past his prime but he can still be productive in ways.  Jones got better with the Rangers and him being with a good offense in a good park will help him.  Jones’s defense should still be good too.  The only thing teams need to accept is that he won’t get on base but I would save a spot on my roster for him if I were in need of RBIs.  He will get a few hits that count though and is a veteran I trust in though situations.  Jones won’t be nearly as good as he was and this will be the peak of the rest of his career but he could improve a lot.

Tigers add four to 40-man roster

November 24, 2009

The Tigers added for men to their 40 man roster.  here is what they could do for them…

AUDY CIRIACO: I like what I see in him, he could make some big contibutions but not all the time and it could take awhile.  He doesn’t have the best tools in the system but he could be dangerous.  Ciriaco isn’t ready for the show as far as hitting but he could improve here

SCOTT SIZEMORE- The left-handed Placido Polanco.  He will hit hit and is ready for the bigs.  he could start doing well right away.  he doesn’t have many flaws in his game and could become a player who hits his way to MVPs.  He will be somebody the Tigers should get tons of production out of and good stats.

RYAN STRIEBY:  His power and average combo will get him to a successful career.  He might still need to geta  little better but he will do many great things like Sizemore.  he won’t play good defense though.  Being great DH is his future.

BRENNAN BOESCH: His power will take him a little way but I’m not sure about a good career.  Boesch could do a few things for them and could stick around for a while but don’t expect him to do really good.  If he gets on base more he will be great though.

Buchholz to keep rising

November 23, 2009

Clay Buchholz won’t be a one start wonder he probably won’t ever go into a big slump again.  Buchholz should keep getting better every year, next year he will improve the most dramatic in his career.  He should get his ERA way down a contend of the Cy Young.  Him and Lester would be good together.  He should start fooling batters easily and start doing the things he was supposed to, he has so much talent he could be better than expected.  Buchholz should do well in all aspects of the game and he could emerge as one of the best pitchers in the league soon.  He will be better than Joba by a long shot especially if Joba keeps alternating roles.  Buchholz will put up some start better than others but all of his starts should have at least traces of quality.  The Red Sox better not trade him, even for a really good player they will be very sorry if they do, especially if they do in the division.

Trading any young players bad for Dodgers

November 22, 2009

The Dodgers are a World Series team, they just need to get a little older.  Trading any of their young players could ruin the team, even for Roy Halladay.  Roy Halladay would be a nice guy to have but I don’t think they need him, they can go for a lesser veteran and still be a better team than they were last year.  Trading Chad Billingsley would be ridiculous, he might have had a bad year but he is the ace of the staff, Roy Halladay would take his place but long-term Billingsley would be better especially with his consistent numbers and him always putting up a good start, he could be a Roy Halladay type pitcher.  Even though Halladay is better he could leave after 2010 and he might struggle at first.  Halladay wouldn’t be bad for the Dodgers but giving up Billingsley, Loney or any other top prospect wouldn’t make sense, you would lose other key parts of your team too and Halladay wouldn’t bring back as much.

Phils have better options than DeRosa

November 21, 2009

I think the Phillies could do way better than Mark DeRosa.  Placido Polanco would be better even if they gave up a draft pick.  DeRosa will never hit well again and the most he will do is hit 20 homers.  This team needs an impact third baseman and DeRosa is far from that. DeRosa might make a good utility man and he wouldn’t be a bad sign but at third base he isn’t very good.  Chone Figgins is the best guy and is twenty times better than DeRosa, he is what they really need.  DeRosa would get better there but he could make this team worse just by a little.  DeRosa isn’t going to be very good where ver he signs, I think and up and coming team will come to sign him and it will be great for thew Phillies.

Holliday not going to LAA is great

November 21, 2009

The Angels made a smart move by deciding not t sign Holliday, I think a superstar could hurt the offensive flow of this team.  Holliday would be a good player and the Angels will need to improve but a guy who plays the Angels style of baseball.  I think they need Chone Figgins way more than they need Holliday.  Holliday would fit into the line-up but I think he would make them into a team that gets knocked out of the playoffs int he first round.  Jason Bay would be better anyway we would take Vlad’s place better.  But I think a more toolsy outfielder is needed and Holliday would do the team harm, not his numbers.  The Angels are smart for doing this, if they would have signed him they would be worse and he wouldn’t do well for a while.
