Players that could help Tigers make playoffs

August 31, 2009
  • I think if the Tigers call-up Brent Clevlen he could develop into a good player with good power who will do a few things.  He won’t be as good as Marcus Thames but he could get some big hits and if they call him up he should do well.  He won’t hit 300 but I think he could get as close as ever.  All he needs to do is to focus on getting more hits and he could be a decent bench player and be important to the Tiger
  • Ryan Strieby is a great player and he will continue to be, he will always have a great power-average combo and Scott Sizemore will tear up any pitcher, he’s kind of like a poor man’s Placido Polanco, they both could fuel the Tigers a lot.  They could help score at least 3 runs a game for the Tigers and one day they will be great players.
  • Adam Everett’s defense could help the Tigers win but if he could step up his power he could be big for the Tigs.  I think he could and will at least hit 2 more homers this year but get at least 10-15 more RBI this year.  Everett can hit homers and should hit a couple or at least one in the playoffs.
  • Fantasy Tip of Day: Daniel MccCutchen is a great low buy

Brad Lidge future

August 30, 2009

Brad Lidge won’t ever be a dominant closer again but he should be a decent one who only blows a save once and awhile.  He should get a lot better and by next year. I think he is just having a bad year which will happen to him a few times.  His strikeouts should be great next year, I think he can strike out 100 a few more times.  His fastball needs to improve and it can by the end of the year it should get any decent hitter out with it.  He needs to get good hitters out and he can 75 percent of the time.  Lidge will almost never end a year with under a 3.00 ERA.  I think he could improve his walks a lot, soon.  Lidge is a top of the middle teir closer and will stay that way.  Lidge is a nice pitcher who does a lot of things good, he will run into trouble but not much for pitching at Citizens Bank Park.

Rays make bad choice

August 29, 2009

The Rays called up Andy Sonnanstine for Scott Kazmir.  Sonnanstine is about 4 times worse than Kazmir and only has his stuff, Sonnanatine won’t ever be good with stats.  The Rays should have brought up Wade Davis, he needs to get some MLB time so that way he won’t struggle next year.  Wade Davis and David Price should be a killer 1-2 combo.  Davis won’t be as good as Sonnanstine would this year but almost as good.  I think when Davis comes up he will be a ROY contender.  Davis is a great prospect and he should live up to all his hype.  Sonnanstine won’t ever be a good pitcher but he’s an okay filler.  Sonnanstine will be a better postseason guy.  Davis won’t be the best Rays pitcher but he will be a top 20 pitcher.    After Tampa I think Sonnanstine will be a multi team player who is average.
Future Rays rotation

  1. L David Price
  2. R Wade Davis
  3. R Matt Garza
  4. R James Shields
  5. R Jeff Niemann

The only good thing  about the Kazmir trade was the Rays get to keep Niemann and he will be amazing, if he would have left it would have been as bad as losing Edwin Jackson.

Kazmir traded to Angels

August 28, 2009

Scott Kazmir was traded to the LA Angels today, there isn’t anything wrong with him and he should be back to his normal self by the end of the year.  Kazmir will be okay behind Jared Weaver but he won’t help the Angels much this year and should slowly regroup and get better.  The Rays will be a lot worse without him, I think now they won’t even make the playoffs without him.  They also didn’t get a good package, they could have got Hank Conger and a PTBNL.  Kazmir shouldn’t change at all and should be better in the AL East as soon as he is healthy.  Alex Torres will be decent but he is blocked in the rotation, but he should make a couple valuable starts for them next year.  Matt Sweeney wasn’t a bad pick-up he could start in the future at first base, he should have a lot of power and hit at least 25 at the Trop.  Kazmir will be great for the Angels soon and the Rays made a bad deal but they should get a little out of it.

Rockies: This good?

August 26, 2009

I think the Rockies offense can score at least 200 runs over the rest of the year and that Ubaldo, Marquis, and Fogg should be a great the rest of the year, but their not close to being as good as the Dodgers but are a Wild Card and NLCS team.  Carlos Gonzalez is better than what he is doing right now, even though he is doing good and he should get better slowly throughout the year.  The Rockies are going to win 95 games at least this year.  If they get the Phillies in the first round I think they sweep them.  The Rockies offense is what will carry them and I don’t think it will stop.  Garett Atkins should hit at least 7 homers the rest of the year.  Team Rating: (1-10): 8.7

Tigers vs Angels prediction

August 26, 2009

I think the Tigers are going to beat the Angels really badly today.  Joe Saunders isn’t a good pitcher and the Tigers have a nice chance to score ten runs today.  I think Aubrey Huff will finally break out as a Tiger today.  I also think Edwin Jackson should pitch the best game of the series.  The Angels will score and hit but Jackson should strikeouta lot and walk only one or two.  I think Miguel Cabrera will keep up his great hitting today as well, he shouldn’t stop hitting for the rest of the year.  The Tigers bullpen should be okay today when they are used and they shouldn’t give up many hits.  The Tigers should have a great all around game today and continue doing good.  The Angels should put this series behind them and do great the next couple of series, they should run into a bit of trouble in the middle of September.  Projected Final Score: Tigers 12 Angels 5

Peralta three year outlook

August 25, 2009

Next three years: Will be a decent third baseman

Player: Peralta  is a decent stats guy at shortstop and third base.  I think he will have ups and downs for his career and a lot within the next three years, but more ups.

YEAR     G        AB      H      R      HR   RBI    SB    BB   2B   SF    OBP    AVG
2010      157   567   163   79   21    81       2     59    38   4       363    273
2011       153   543   157   71   20    76      0     51    30   3      352     289
2012      156   575    170  86    25   89       5     67    37  8      371     295

ANALYSIS:  I think Peralta is a good player.  He should only hit 295 once in his career, he will never hit 300.  His hitting is way better than his defense and if he played better defense he would be a great player.  I think Peralta has the skills to be an everyday seven hitter for his whole career.  Peralta should do almost everything  average every year.  Peralta’s homers are good and he can hit one anytime.  Peralta should have a nice hitting career.  He fits well with the Indians he should play best with them and be an average player anywhere else.   He isn’t good enough to start for a World Series team.  Peralta will get a lot of RBIs with homers in the future.  He shouldn’t ever get 100 RBIs.

Alcides’s offense

August 23, 2009

Alcides Escobar will be a great defender but his hitting skills have a more uncertain future.  I think Alcides will get hits and hit for a great average but only hit 10 homers and not get many RBI.  He will be an eight or one hitter.  I think Escobar will be an above average hitter who lives up to his hype.  He won’t be an all-star offensively but his defense will be awesome.  Alcides won’t hit well this year but he should gradually improve.  He won’t be a production artist but he should do some good things and if it weren’t for his speed he would hit lower.  He will have some bad years hitting and he should be average at getting on base.  Projected career average: 302.
