Top Bargains Left In Free Agency
February 1, 2012- SP Edwin Jackson- He’s the best starter and could give a contender one great year for cheap PREDICTION: Tigers
- SP Roy Oswalt- Another one, just aging and a little worse off, but he’s till a great starter for cheap PREDICTION: Red Sox
- 1B Derrek Lee- A good hitting first baseman, whose ready for a decent older age season PREDICTION: Brewers
- DH Valdimir Guererro- He could just repeat the 2010 year he had with he Rangers, he’s still dangerous PREDICTION: Yankees
- SP Javier Vazquez- He was really good at the end of 2011 and he is that good and could still easily fool some hitters PREDICTION: Royals
- 1B Casey Kotchman- A great defender who gets on and plays some good ball, all though he should only hit .280 PREDICTION: Pirates
- DH Johnny Damon- Will play, just depends where. He’s good and will do what he did in 2011 PREDICTION: Orioles
- OF Raul Ibanez- He won’t be the normal Raul but he could still drive some guys in and flash some power PREDICTION: Brewers
- OF Magglio Ordonez- He could possibly hit the best out of anyone still on the market and will make some nice contributions to a team in 2011 PREDICTION: Tigers
- SP Rich Harden- He’s still younger than most and can be pretty good when healthy, worth a flyer PREDICTION: Brewers
- RP David Aardsma- Former closer, has good stuff and is pretty good all-around PREDICTION: Cardinals
HM: RP Todd Coffey, RP Mike Gonzalez, RP Mike Wuertz, SP Chris Young, RP Hung-Chih Kuo, DH Hideki Matsui
Finding Some Free Agents A Home
January 9, 2012This is where I think some Free Agents Fit best…
- Roy Oswalt- Cardinals- That last arm they need and a good one
- Francisco Cordero- Reds- One more year to let Chapman go to the rotation
- Ryan Madson- Rays- Great fit if he is discounted and Farnsworth-Rodney would be okay 7-8, though it could blow up but Madson won’t
- Casey Kotchman- Rays- He will hit about .280 and play good defense
- Carlos Pena- Brewers- He may not be the best hitter but his power will help and he’s a lot better than Gamel
- Jeff Keppinger- Tigers- He replaces Betemit and he could do well in Detroit and be a second or third baseman
- Yoenis Cespedes- Marlins- Best fits are Marlins, Tigers and Yankees, so one of those three
- Johnny Damon- Rays- He still hits well and is a good DH option
- Vladimir Guerrero- Blue Jays- He fits their team and could have a year lie he did in 2010, only not quite as good
- Hideki Matsui- Mariners- For a year, not a bad deal
- Hiroki Kuroda- Red Sox- He would do well in Boston and have an ERA a little under 4 and they need him
- Edwin Jackson- Royals- They need pitching a with him they have a good righty, lefty and good prospects plus Chen
- Javier Vazquez- Natioanls- A possible contending teams, comeback will be complete because he will do well
- Joe Saunders- Yankees- He may do okay there, but he’s not really much more than a decent five guy
Stuff To Look For This Meetings
December 5, 2011Stuff That Could Happen:
BAILEY: Watch for Andrew Bailey to get traded, a strong candidate is the Mets I think but the Reds are also coming in strong as are many teams, but really who wouldn’t want a guy like this closing out the game for you, his future is bright and he’s already a strong closer as long as he can stay away from injuries. Billy Beane better get a good return if he trades him.
MIAMI MARLINS: Up Heath bell and Jose Reyes the Marlins still have one more move in them, but they should be careful not to go too far and it should be a starter. For them to contend they need one more good arm, Sanchez to continue pitching at the level he did last year (more likely than not he will), Nolasco to find control (he may battle this but I like him winning his control back) and Josh Johnson to stay healthy. Mark Buehrle OR CJ Wilson would be great but even
YANKEES: They’ll make a move, here’s a bold prediction. They sign CJ Wilson for 5 years, $ 80 million dollars.
TRADED: I think joey Votto and James Shields will stay put and they should, Garza has a 50-50 shot a going somewhere though the Cubs should build around him even though he’s not the best fit there. I think Gio Gonzalez will get traded and John Danks will get traded. I could see Danks going to the Yankees, as could Wandy Rodriguez and Gonzalez may be the arm Miami gets if they strike out on Buehrle and Wilson.
FA: Pujols probably won’t sign here but I see him either going to the Cardinals, which is very likely or the Cubs with Miami having an outside chance. I like Aramis to end up in a Angels, Tigers the Brewers, all are great fits. Look for Prince to go tot he Cubs, best fit, Mariners, okay fit or Nationals, decent fit.
