Lugo: What is he for Cards?

February 28, 2010

I think right now he is a reliable back-up, because he will hit a decent amount and his base running won’t be bad and when healthy I think he can do a lot on defense.  His hitting should help the Cardinals the most though because they can insert him leadoff any game and he would do decent a good amount of the time.  He could also be good down the stretch and he should get on enough to score tons of runs for the Cards.  Lugo should do about the same amount as he did last year and I don’t think his tank is empty so he could even get a lot of everything and have a really good season.  He could be one of the most productive players on the Cardinals when he plays at times.  Lugo needs to stop stealing though that will hurt the Cardinals, he should only run once and a while.  His swing is solid and he has all the tools to do good too, so I only see a slim chance he does terrible this year but he could any time or any season and he needs protection or else he will only do so much.  The Cardinals will need him playing at times.

What A-Rod will Yankees get?

February 27, 2010

I think they will get the borderline MVP one.  A-Rod should hit really good and if he stays healthy hit pretty impressive.  I think he will hit 40 homers and get 130 RBIs this year.  His defense should keep going down the drain though and that will hurt them a bit.  A-Rod will just continue to hit at times and won’t be able to be stopped and if he gets in a slump it won’t be for long and it won’t hurt this team.  Rodriguez has a lot left in him and I think he could stop having on and off-season after this year.  He will do all his normal things too and he might be extra clutch this year.  A-Rod will have another year where he leads the Yankees and will do very god to start and end the year.  He shouldn’t run into any trouble anywhere besides fielding.

Cardinals sign Lopez

February 26, 2010

This is a good move.  I think he will give them a little more average and keep them in contention.  His hitting should stay good and he should be productive on defense.  Lopez’s speed should also help a lot.  If he doesn’t perform and Pujols doesn’t have another good hitter around him they will not do good but Lopez will solve that.  He should be a great top of the order guy for the Cardinals.  Lopez could see a slight rise in power and a slight decrease as far as average but his hitting should be good and steady if he bats ahead of Pujols, not leadoff.
JOB: I think Brendan Ryan should lose his job because Lopez will be way better at the plate and it would make them a lot better than they would be sitting a .300 hitter in Skip Schumaker.  Lopez is a lot better than both though and without him the middle of the infield would hurt this team bad.

Tigers sign Damon

February 25, 2010

I think this was a good signing for a year, especially if the Tigers want to contend.  He will be a border line all-star for the whole year and should be a great hitter for this line-up.  The bad thing is that the Tigers outfield is bad as far as fielding and that will come back to bite them.  Damon should put up nice numbers and constantly keep this team hitting.  His power will take a big hit though, but the Tigers just need him to get on base and they will be fine.  Damon should be worse in Detroit than he was in New York but there should be no big difference.  He will not be as good as Granderson long-term.  Damon should have a lot of speed for is age and that will help the team a lot.  In order to do a few more important things the Tigers had to bring him aboard and for one year he will be really good.  He should hit well the whole year and do evrything that a good hitter does at least a bit above average.

Will Mauer be a “bust”

February 24, 2010

We all know he will do amazing and he will put up the same amount of production.  I can see him doing it though because of the better offense and he has a lot of power.  What will do is not only be the best hitter but he will drive in tons of runs and start to hit more homers with runners on because of his pure hitting talent.  I really don’t see a thing he can’t do with the bat and that’s why he won’t be getting beat any time soon.  His hitting will also keep the Twins in a lot of games, if they lose him at all they are doomed.  Mauer will also make some amazing plays behind the plate and will always be decent as a catcher.  Also with the protection of Morneau he could do a whole lot better.  Mauer should be on fire a lot during the season and will just continue to hit, I could see him getting a whole lot better this year.

What hitters will do really good for the Nats this year

February 23, 2010

Ryan Zimmerman will be a top-notch hitter improving everything.  Other than him Adam Dunn should hit good as far as everything except average.  The best hitter as far as average will be Nyjer Morgan, he will get a hit then steal all year and he will hit tons of triples.  Adam Kennedy will also contribute all around and Christian Guzman will hit great number two.   The Nats should have plenty of great hitters this year and they will have tons more runs.  The best thing is that the top of the order will get tons of hits and that will lead to more wins.  Zimmerman improving will be the best when he is at his fullest he will be one of the toughest outs and keep this offense running and you will see that this year.  Jesus Flores and Pudge should also do very good for catcher.  The team will hit very good this year and continue to improve, it might be on and off at first.

Justin Duchscherer: What is he?

February 22, 2010

I think he can have spats where he is an all-star he already proven that but I wouldn’t bank on him as an ace or a go to guy, mostly because he’s been a reliever for so long and he doesn’t have the experience.  He will post an ERA of under 3.00 during the year though because the good spats will happen more often than the bad ones but he will have quite a few starts where he gets hit around.  He isn’t ever going to eat innings.  What he did two years ago will not be duplicated and being on the A’s now he won’t do anything as well.  I like his delivery though and everything should hold up so he won’t be a terrible pitcher but he doesn’t do anything special and that is preventing him from being really good.  Him and Sheets should be solid enough for the A’s oto do well this year but without him they wouldn’t be as good.  Justin will play a good part for this team.

Fu-Te Ni and what he can do

February 21, 2010

I think Fu-Te Ni is capable of quite a few things and when he gets used to AL hitters.  The best thing is that he can get out of jams and he will always do that, if there is one thing he will always be good at it’s not giving up runs.  He will hit rough patches though and shouldn’t be used as a specialist.  He will do the things you need him to do a lot though and he will be the perfect guy for a stretch run.  I like his unorthodox delivery because it will throw hitter off for a while.  I think he can fill in a big role but you will need to ease him into it.  His BB-K ratio should go down and he should continue to rise quickly.  He probably won’t blow any big leads like he has before in 2010.  Ni has to stop throwing a lot of balls and over using his fastball in order to advance to the next level.  Ni has a promising arm and could do very good.

Indians sign Branyan

February 21, 2010

I don’t get this move, he will do nothing more than Pronk and has no track record, he will hit homers and that’s it.  Branyan won’t be good for the defense either.  The don’t need a light hitter, they won’t win a lot of games because they have young hitters and Branyan is just going to keep lowering his average.  Branyan will come up with some clutch homers though.  He isn’t the player who is on a good team.  Matt LaPorta would do a way better job.  They will start him and cost the team a few wins but they will get a lot of homers, in a lot of games but not enough to make up for anything.  Branyan could become a bit better hitter this year just as a fluke but it most likely won’t happen.  He will not get many base hits with runners on this year either, just like normal.

Are Mets, Barajas a good fit?

February 19, 2010

I think they could be.  Barajas has some tools of a decent hitter but he will have to kick it up a notch which will be hard.  His defense is worth much anywhere in his game either but behind Josh Thole is occasionally hitting and the fact that he is a veteran should help.  I think the Mets should stand pat with Thole though, he has some good young tools and is ready and he should always put up more production than Barajas.  Barajas has the park that will hurt him with the Mets too but he has a good make-up and is worth a look.  His power should do a lot though, if they have that coming off the bench it will help them through s lot of at-bats.  Barajas will contribute to this team  in a few ways during different times.  When he’s gets on a hot streak I’d ride him for a few days but his slumps will come big and he won’t hit during them, especially in the NL East.
