Weird Stats

May 9, 2009

Here are some of the weirdest stats this year.

  1. The Marlins are 16-4 when Josh Johnson starts since his 2008 debut.  If they keep it up,  the Marlins should have a record of around 30-4 when he starts in 2009.  Johnson does have a big impact to this team though.   He is Johan Santana like with all the wins he gets and his low ERA.
  2. Cliff Lee is almost doubled in the loss column and his ERA is about 1.40 higher than last year.  He isn’t that bad but he should have a year a lot worse than last.  His ERA is almost 4.00 but it is a little less, this should be around where it is all year.  Lee isn’t a below average player but he isn’t an ace.
  3. David Ortiz’s slugging percentage this year is lower than his on base percentage, which is the last thing a power hitter wants to hear a month into thehseason.  I still don’t think he is done though, he has lots of power and is clutch, some players get into big slumps and I think that is Ortiz’s case.
