It frightens me a little to know that you think Jose Valverde is going to be worse this year. Even though you added, “but will still be great,” doesn’t make me feel any better. The guy makes me just as nervous as I used to get when Fernando Rodney was our closer.
*I wish baseball hadn’t changed as much as it has…and that the game was still played the same way it was in the 60’s–when a pitcher could pitch at any time throughout the game, rather than be limited to being just a “reliever” or a “closer.” There are many times I think that some of the relievers could close a game better than some of the designated closers…and for that matter, some of the relievers would do well as a starting pitcher. [Just thought I’d share my “old-fashioned” opinion.]

Anybody is going to be worse coming off one of the better season in closers recent histor, but he won;t be by a whole lot anyways. He’s twenty times better than Rodney and it’s silly to be worried, he’s one of the best in the game at his job.
