Teams in pursuit of Kennedy, but what is he?

December 7, 2009

Adam Kennedy a veteran utility man is a hot topic on the market but what will he bring to the team?  I think Kennedy will be a good hitter to have in the lower middle part of the order.  Kennedy has the versatility that makes him good too.  He should be worth more hitting though.  Kennedy is the pice to the puzzle for teams almost to a playoff run with a hole in the line-up.  I think he has a really good chance to do good during this upcoming year and for a few more.  I like how he is a lefty too, a good team always needs a good lefty hitter.  If he does go to the Mets it won’t be bad, but he won’t hit homers and his production will go down a bit.  I see him getting on base a little more in the near future too.

Roy Halladay to Rays? Rays deny it

December 7, 2009

Roy Halladay might be able to go to the Rays but they denied it.  They were said to offer BJ Upton and Wade Davis.  Which is giving up way to much.  Davis will become an elite starter who concurs the league and should be great behind Price.  Upton might be slumping but we saw what he can do and it is great, he brings another dimension to this team.  I would wait another year on trading Upton.  Halladay might be a little worse for the Rays but he would do pretty good.  Halladay’s big problem would be homers there.  He doesn’t give up a lot of homers but they would rise at the Trop.  I expect him to go elsewhere in sake of his stats.  Plus the Jays shouldn’t help the Rays.

Detroit’s closing situation

December 7, 2009

I think there are three closers that could close for the Tigers the best next year.  Some they might get at the winter meetings, they are…

Brandon Lyon:  He has all the makings of a closer.  I don’t think it matters when you put him in, he will give you a quality inning or even game.  I don’t know why he hasn’t been a full-time closer since 2005.  If he goes back to his old job there won’t be any rust for him to shake off.  Lyon would be their best option and will do well as far as his command.  The Tigers should still get him even if he isn’t a closer.

JJ Putz: A guy from Trenton, Putz could return to an elite, but there’s no guarantee.  Putz would make a good Detroit closer even if he is just average.  The Tigers don’t need a great guy to close.  Putz shouldn’t get hurt a lot and should easily come back from his old injury.  I would choose him as Detroit’s closer, but he has a lot to worry about and all won’t turn out the right way.

Matt Lindstrom: He has the power and the youth the Tigers need.  He could be a good closer for a long time, but he needs to get it right which is why Detroit is great for him.  He needs a big park and a good pitching coach and they have it.  I can see a Matt Lindstrom for Casper Wells and a another prospect.  Lindstrom would be the best long-term option and could dominate in Detroit.  Florida isn’t the best for him.

Best  Option: JJ Putz

All these guys would be great closer anywhere also.

Tigers re-sign Adam Everett

December 7, 2009

The Tigers have resigned Adam Everett to a one year deal.   This is great for the Tigers.  The only thing it doesn’t cover is good offense.  Everett will do what he did last year and could do it better.  Everett needs to be in Detroit  to be good and is better than Crosby.  He is the Tigers biggest impact player and without him their shortstop position would be bad.  Everett has the power to help this club a lot.  Everett has more value than last year and should do more than he did last year.  I think this could be the Tigers best signing of the year.  Everett will not hit real good or be the best shortstop in the league but he will play better defense than anyone else and could start to get better.

Moves: Bruney, Penny

December 7, 2009

Here are the two latest moves…

  • Brad Penny signed with the Cardinals and I think his career with revive there.  Penny is a good pitcher he just needs to fix when he does good, he needs to continue being the pitcher he is and he should do great, especially in St. Louis.  He will do more of what he did in San Francisco.  If could become an all-star again and he picked the perfect team to go to.  Penny won’t ever be super great though, he will get hitters out and do it well and the Cards need that to replace Pinero.  Penny is a nice replacement and should do good in St. Louis from the start
  • Brian Bruney was traded to the Nats for a player to be named.  Bruney is a nice start at redeveloping this bullpen which is what they need to do.  The Yankees won’t miss him though he protected the game until Rivera came in.  But the Yanks should be just fine and find someone else to do his job.  Bruney won’t do as well on a bad team but he is a good start and could anchor the Nats pen.  Watch for him to go on a big streak this year.  He will do a quality job.

Tigers Notes: Thomas, Rapada, Jackson

December 7, 2009

The latest Tigers rumors and moves…

  • They signed Brad Thomas.  He could do well but I think we need to see how he performs.  It will be a though move to Detroit at first.  He hasn’t done real well on his small sample in the majors but you can’t rely on that
  • The Tigres traded Clay Rapada to the Rangers for a player to be named.  They didn’t need Rapada due to the fact that Fu-Te Ni is better than him and I am happy they could get anything for him.
  • Edwin Jackson is going to be traded most likely.  This will be bad, unless they get really good prospects.  Jackson is a great pitcher who needs to go either the Tigers through their rebuilding process.  I think the key for the Tigers winning was their pitching and trading it is the worst thing they could do.

Halladay and Yankees analysis

December 7, 2009

The Yankees do not need to get Halladay.  The could give up a little of their future and it could impact them.  It would be good for them to get Halladay but I think it could cost more than more than what  he is worth.  Halladay would do well as a Yankee, no question but they don’t need him and with CC, AJ, Wang(If he stays), and Hughes they could have an exallant staff.  they don’t need Halladay and that could ruin a staff.  Halladay would do everything he does in New York.  Halladay would play best with the Blue Jays.  I think Halladay would do good with the Yanks but it could affect other pitcher like Hughes and affect them long term.  I think Halladay would be bad wfor the Yanks but would have tons of good years with them.
